Conte agrees Chelsea deal

Italy boss, Antonio Conte, has reportedly agreed in principle to become Chelsea’s new manager in the summer.

The 46-year-old was touted as an early candidate for the role alongside Massimiliano Allegri and Diego Simeone.
This was shortly after Jose Mourinho was sacked in December.
Guus Hiddink was swiftly installed as interim manager, but it was made clear that the Dutchman would leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Conte has overseen the Italian national team since 2014, but he is expected to leave his post after this summer’s European Championships in France.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a deal has been agreed in principle between Chelsea and Conte, who has never coached in England before.
The Italian has previously managed Arezzo, Bari, Atalanta, Siena and Juventus, where he won three Serie A titles during a three-year spell.

Trader Rapes Nine-Year-Old Boy Eight Times

A Lagos trader, popularly called Mallam has been arrested after a nine-year-old boy complained about experiencing pains in the anus to his mother.

360nobsNigerianBoy
The suspect, identified as Mallam Isiaka, 34, was arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command, Iju Division for raping the boy, Christopher (not real name) eight times.
Punch Metro reports Christopher as a primary one pupil who lived with his parents on Coker Alhaja Street, Old Akute Road, Iju. His mother constantly sent the child to Mallam Isiaka’s shop for household items.
A neighbor said the parents became “‘suspicious’ when Christopher was sent on an errand, Monday, and returned with his pants soaked after he had stayed longer than necessary to run the errand”.
She added, that Isiaka was a favorite of the neighbors as he sold most of the household items they needed. She said:
“Isiaka sells items across the road in his shop. The boy’s parents used to send him on errands to the shops. He bought household items like sugar, milk, and biscuits from Isiaka. We call him mallam.
It was on Saturday that the boy got the courage to open up on the incident. The boy said the mallam had been raping him in his shop anytime he ran errands for his parents”.
The preteen was previously afraid of speaking out as Mallam Isiaka had threatened he would die if he ever told anyone. It was on Saturday, he finally had the courage to tell his mother what the trader had been doing to him.
Christopher’s mother who requested her name not be mentioned in print, confirmed the neighbor’s story as she narrated her son’s ordeal, saying “her son confessed ‘the mallam had raped him eight times'”.
The boy was taken to the hospital for tests when Mallam Isiaka kept denying the boy’s accusations; the sexual-assault was confirmed.
His mother told reporters:
“We have gone to the hospital and they have given him drugs. We are supposed to go to the hospital again. If you see my son’s anus, it is wider than my own. Ordinarily he is an agile child, but he suddenly became cold recently.
If not for the spirit of God, I would not know since he is not a girl. I would never think anyone would be raping my boy”.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos confirmed Isiaka’s arrest. She ratified the case is presently opened at the Isokoko division. Badmos assures justice will be done on behalf on nine-year-old Christopher.

Students Set School On Fire After Discovering Their Courses Weren’t Accredited

360nobsfiree
Angry students of the Southern Nigeria Institute of Innovative Technology, Ifewara, Osun State, set fire to several properties in the school including a female hostel and some cars, Monday.
Femi Makinde, a Punch correspondent in the state garnered that “the students started the violent action on Sunday when they learnt that the National Board for Technical Education did not accredit their course”.
The unaffected students condemned their colleagues’ actions in a phone chat with Makinde. They were accused of inciting violence when they learnt their courses which they had applied and received admission for were not accredited.
“We had our matriculation on Friday and some students said their courses were not accredited. This led to a serious protest and they destroyed so many things before they set the school on fire. They chased female students away and stole our laptops, phones and other things before they set the female hostel on fire”, one of the students said.

The student also confirmed “the protest started on Sunday evening and continued as early as 7am on Monday. Peace was restored to the school only when police men came this morning”.
The Chairman, Governing Council of SNIIT, Dr Kola Christwealth denied the non-accreditation story when contacted for comments. Christwealth however blamed the students action on ignorance saying “the students lacked understanding of the program in the school”. He said:
“Our courses were accredited by NBTE. We are only encouraging our students to enroll for professional exams. We did not charge them anything for preparing them for the exams but they will only pay to register for the examinations.
The payment is to the professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management and others. They are not going to pay us but some of them said we should be the ones to pay”.

Thought/Verdict
The school would have avoided the violence by being as transparent with its students as possible. Those Osun students do not play at all. Were the students defending their right by inciting violence and setting their school ablaze?

Why you should not sit with your legs crossed

Have you ever thought that sitting with your legs crossed might affect you? Is it a bad posture or it affects you physically or in some other way? It depends on how long and how often you do it. You atleast cross your legs once while working on your desk, talking to someone while sitting on chair, while travelling in public transport etc. without even realizing it. 70% of people sit with left leg crossed over the right. But is it really any unhealthy exercise which one should avoid? This is not entirely true but it may have some negative consequences. Experts say that sitting with crossed legs for a long time raises blood pressure, causes nerve and back pain or nerve damage or may link to spider or varicose veins.
No doubt if you sit with same posture for a long time your leg or feet can go numb. And sitting with your legs crossed can create pressure on peroneal nerve behind the knee and may lead to sensations in the feet. Also when you are sitting with crossed legs your blood pressure raises because the blood has to pumped back to the heart against the gravity but sitting in this posture the blood flow decreases. As a result of which your body has to raise your blood pressure to pump your blood back to the heart. So crossing the legs does cause a temporary rise in blood pressure. So if you are planning to sit for a long time, don’t cross your legs.
Frequent crossing of the legs puts stress on the hip joints and cause imbalances in pelvis bones which is the base support for your spine. And as a result putting pressure on spine, leads to cause back pain and neck pain later. And the longer you sit with your crossed legs, the more pressure you put on your spine which results in a major issue. So Vivian Eisenstaedt, an orthopedic physical therapist suggests to sit with your knees and ankles at 90 degrees with your pelvis balanced whenever possible.
Crossing your legs not only affect on your blood pressure or spine but it also affects on nerves and veins in your legs and feet. As we know, the sciatic nerve is the largest in the human body and stretches from the lower back right down to our feet. One branch of the sciatic nerve is the peroneal nerve. Any pressure on this such as leg crossing can cause numbness and temporary paralysis of some of the muscles in your foot and leg, preventing you from being able to raise your ankle - what we know as that “pins and needles” sensation. So it is advised not to make it a habit to sit with crossed legs.
As we know that veins are the only medium to circulate blood all over the body. And also from legs to the heart. So when u sit crossed leg for long the pressure of one leg on the top of the other prevents your blood flow, which can weaken or damage the veins in your legs. If the veins get damaged, the blood can come out from them and collect somewhere in legs, causing spider veins or varicose veins. So don’t sit crossed log for too long take a break and walk a little bit to avoid this.
Last but not the least sitting with crossed legs sends a wrong message when you are in a meeting. It indicates an unwelcoming attitude from your side. And body language always speaks more than that what you are actually saying. So crossed legs may be bad sometimes.

5 Reasons Working With Computers Is Bad For You & How to Stay Healthy

Working on the computer may sound like the most relaxed job in the world, but it’s quite the contrary. It’s very tough on your body, which is not used to this modern type of work.

Sitting has long been known to cause back pain and negatively influence circulation, which can promote cardiovascular disease. Extensive use of the keyboard and mouse can lead to stiffening of the muscles in your hands, arms, and neck, as well as inflammation and injuries. Staring at a bright screen for too long can cause dry eyes and headaches. Finally, computer work can be stressful, isolating, and lead to depression and anxiety. In other words, working on the computer is as unhealthy a job as you can imagine.

Let me show you what exactly the culprits are and how you can avoid and fix them.

Sitting Kills You

Whether you do in front of the computer, the TV, or while reading a book, sitting for long stretches of time is a very serious health risk! Sitting affects your blood circulation, your back experiences a steady stress, you are more likely to drink and eat stuff that isn’t good for you, and you burn very little calories, making it more likely that you overeat. As a result, sitting contributes to a host of conditions, most notably gaining weight, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and consequently a shortened life span.

Remedies

Sitting is perfectly good and normal. It’s just when you do it excessively that it turns into a major health risk. So try to loosen it up and play with alternatives. Here is a list of things you should do:

Take frequent breaks, at least 5 minutes per hour.
Walk around and stretch during your breaks.
Get a standing desk and spend part of your day working while standing upright.
Exercise before or after work.

Bad Posture Causes Pain

Bad posture is not necessarily a consequence of sitting. You can develop bad posture from anything you do habitually, whether it’s sitting, standing, or walking. Your daily activities have an impact on your body and shape your muscles; they either tighten or become weak. The typical consequences associated with bad posture while working on the computer are pain in the back, shoulder, and neck, often resulting in tension headaches.

Remedies

Do everything recommended above to combat sitting-related health risks, especially taking frequent breaks and stretching.
Self-massage your back and neck.
Set up your monitor ergonomically; the top edge should be at eye level, the display should be at arms length from your face and angled slightly backward.
Get an ergonomic office chair or maybe an exercise ball to support and strengthen your lower back.
Work on a healthy sitting posture; apparently leaning back is actually best for your back.

Repetitive Movements Cause Injuries

Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) is caused by continual physical movements that damage tendons, nerves, muscles, and other soft body tissues. This is actually a severe form of bad posture that most frequently affects the hands and leads to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Remedies

As above, take frequent breaks and stretch.
Adjust your posture to reduce strain on your wrists.
Consciously keep your hands and arms relaxed.
Use very little force when you use the mouse or keyboard.
Make sure your hands are warm.

Staring At The Screen Causes Eye Strain

Staring at a bright screen for hours can lead to eye fatigue or eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, burning, itching or tearing eyes, and temporary vision disorders. Fortunately, eye strain rarely results in a permanent condition and symptoms can be prevented or cured rather easily.

Remedies

Use a quality display of sufficient size.
Avoid glare.
Keep at least one arm length between your eyes and your display.
Keep blinking.
Follow the 20/20/20 rule, i.e. every 20 minutes, focus on an object 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds. You can use tools like EVO or EyeLeo to remind you.
Improve the lighting in the room, particularly install bias lighting.
Use f.lux to automatically dim your display as your room gets darker.

Emotional Pressure & Isolation Cause Anxiety & Depression

Computers are very efficient tools in that they help us with getting more work done in less time. At the same time, you spend less face-to-face time with your colleagues, family, or friends. This can lead to isolation, anxiety, and depression, i.e. both physical and mental health issues. The symptoms are manifold and can include tense muscles, back pain, headaches, poor sleep (insomnia), increased or flat breathing, quickened pulse, and generally signs of stress, depression, or anxiety.

Remedies

Breathe consciously.
In addition to stretching, go for a brisk walk or run up and down the stairs to work off stress levels.
During your frequent breaks, seek out social interactions.
Have meals with colleagues or friends.
Don’t forget to drink lots of water.
Plan for social activities after work.
Meditate before or after work.
Exercise before or after work.

Conclusion

Are computers bad for health? Too much of anything is bad for you. Working with a computer for hours on end day in day out is very straining for your body and can cause very serious health issues. Fortunately, you can avoid pain and misery with only a few simple routines. The key changes are to take frequent short breaks, get up to walk and stretch at least once an hour, actively relax, interact with other people, and especially if you have a lot of stress, remember that you must exercise to stay healthy.

How do you stay healthy while spending hours a day on the computer?
